PRINCE2 2009 AND PRINCE2 6th edition: WHAT IS CHANGED?

Following a range of global feedback, AXELOS is updating PRINCE2’s syllabus, guidance and examinations for the first time since 2009.

While the feedback on PRINCE2’s core methodology remains positive, AXELOS has decided that PRINCE2 needs to better reflect the need to be flexible towards individual projects. New technologies, together with the ever-increasing expectations from stakeholders and customers, demonstrate how today’s project management environment is constantly growing and evolving. As a result, PRINCE2 now has a stronger emphasis on tailoring — to enable project managers to adapt and improve, to achieve the best out of their business.

The main changes to the course will include specific emphasis on the following:

Ensuring flexibility within PRINCE2 so that it can be tailored towards the specific needs of a project

The core principles of PRINCE2;

Re-evaluating the ‘Themes’ guidance to include examples on tailoring

Clarification on the link between these themes and principles

Applying PRINCE2’s guidance practically, with hints and tips on how to achieve this

The aim of the Foundation certification is to ensure that the candidate knows and fully understands the methodology required to be able to work with or as part of a PRINCE2 project management team. The PRINCE2 Foundation level is a pre requisite of next level, PRINCE2 Practitioner.

The PRINCE2® 6th edition Foundation course looks at the basic principles of the PRINCE2 method, the components (called themes) and the processes. The PRINCE2 Foundation level is a course entry requirement for the follow-on qualification levels. The course prepares the participants for the exam PRINCE2 6th edition Foundation certificate.

Objectives
The objective of the PRINCE2 Foundation course is to give participants knowledge of all the PRINCE2 principles, themes, responsibilities, processes, activities and techniques and the chance to explore them so that they are able to work as a member of a project team, conducted according to the PRINCE2 method.

The PRINCE2 Foundation course is aimed at project managers or those who aspire to such a role. It is also interesting for anyone who is involved in the conception, creation and delivery of a project: members of the project board, project team managers, projects auditors, project support (PMO) and other resources.

Conducting a project in accordance to PRINCE2. In other words, pre-project work, initiation, execution and control, closure;

Mock PRINCE2 Foundation exam;

The PRINCE2 6th edition Practitioner course allows participants to study in depth how to contextualise and apply the elements of PRINCE2. The course also prepares the participants for the exam PRINCE2 2017 Practitioner certificate.

Objectives
The aim of the PRINCE2 Practitioner course is to ensure that a candidate is able to start to apply the PRINCE2 method to real-life projects.

Who it is aimed at
The PRINCE2 Practitioner level of qualification is particularly recommended for Project Managers. It is also relevant for resources working on planning, development and creation of a project, including: project board members, project team members, those in charge of the project assurance, members of the office project, and organisation personnel in general who are involved in projects managed according to PRINCE2.

Contents
It is assumed that participants have a full knowledge of the topics covered in the PRINCE2 Foundation course.
